The 9th Rich Man Poor Man dinner will be held on October 28th, 2017 at Markin MacPhail Centre, Winsport. All proceeds raised will be donated to our three amazing partners: Calgary Student Run Clinic, Project SHINE (Sanitation and Hygiene Innovation in Education), and Calgary Allied Mobile Palliative Program (CAMPP). Donation and ticket sales will be opening later this week. We will be featuring each of these organizations leading up to the event.
Project SHINE (Sanitation and Hygiene Innovation in Education) works with communities in Tanzania to help them find simple, low-cost, low-tech ways to improve sanitation and hygiene to reduce diarrheal incidences. By using a non-stigmatizing approach, Project SHINE works with the community and engages youth in science education and social entrepreneurship to improve sanitation and hygiene. They have already installed 110 biosand filters in two communities, and trained 30 biosand filter technicians and community health promoters.
The University of Calgary SRC (Student Run Clinic) aims to provide accessible, quality healthcare for underserved populations in Calgary. With the help of physicians and student volunteers, it aims to increase access to primary care services and provide educational programs, health counselling, social and community services.
CAMPP (Calgary Allied Mobile Palliative Program) aims to address palliative care needs for individuals who are vulnerably housed, living in shelters or are homeless. CAMPP provides outreach programs, early integrated palliative care consultations, education programs, and acts as a liaison between existing services, helping to fill gaps in health care for vulnerable populations.
Each organization will be featured in depth as we get closer to the event.
